Estudando fábulas em inglês

          Trabalhar com fábulas em inglês na sala de aula, é uma excelente alternativa, pois trata-se de uma narrativa pequena, dinâmica, reflexiva, e o melhor, bastante conhecida pelos alunos. Com esta atividade o aluno poderá ampliar o vocabulário em inglês, fazer a leitura com possível entonação, dramatizar, buscar informações relevantes nos textos bem como, desenvolver a opinião crítica acerca da moral da história e transformar uma fábula em charge.

            Agora é só tentar!!

     THE LION AND THE MOUSE

A Lion was sleeping peaceful, when he was awakened by a mouse, who spent running over his face. With a fast attack he grabbed him and was ready to kill him, it begged the Mouse:

-Please, if you let me go, I'm sure one day he could repay his kindness. Laughing because he thought the idea ridiculous, anyway, he decided to release it.

Shortly after, the Lion fell in a trap set by hunters. Attached to the ground, bound by strong cords, could not even move.

The Mouse, hearing his roar, came and gnawed the ropes to let him free. Then he said:

-You laughed at the idea that I would never be able to help you. I never expected to receive from me any favors in exchange for yours! But now he knows that even a small mouse is capable of returning a favor to a powerful Lion.

          

Moral of the story - The little friends may prove the best and most loyal allies.

                       FOX AND THE STORK

The fox and the stork kept good relations and friends seemed to be sincere. One day the fox invited the stork to dinner and, for fun, put on the table just a shallow dish containing a little soup. For her it was all very easy, but the Stork could only wet the tip of the bill and walked away hungry.

-Sorry, said the fox, it seems you did not like the soup.

-Do not think about it, replied the stork. I hope that in return for this visit, you will soon have dinner with me.

The next day, Fox was paying a visit. When seated at the table, which had for dinner was contained in a jar tall, long neck and narrow mouth, where the fox could not enter the nose. All she did was lick the outside of the jar.

-Do not apologize for the dinner, said the stork, so you feel in your own stomach what I felt yesterday. 

         

 Moral of the story - Who hurts with iron, with iron will be hurt.

                        THE HARE AND THE TORTOISE    

One day, a hare hunted small legs and slow turtle. The Turtle smiled and said:"Think you to be swift as the wind, but I win a race." The Hare clearly considered his claim impossible, and agreed to the challenge. Fox then called to serve as a judge, to choose the path and destination.

And on the appointed day, the starting point, they departed together. The Turtle, with his step slow, but steady, determined, at any time, stopped walking.

But the hare, confident of his speed, unconcerned with the race, lay by the roadside for a quick nap. Upon waking up, ran away as fast as he could, no longer able to reach the Turtle, who has crossed the finish line, and now resting in a quiet corner.

       

 Moral of the story -   Slowly and always comes in front.

  THE GRASSHOPPER AND THE ANTS

On a beautiful winter day the ants were having the greatest work to dry their grain reserves. After a downpour, the grains had become completely wet. Suddenly appears a cicada:

- Please, ants, give me a bit of wheat! Damn I'm hungry, I guess I'll die.

Ants stopped work, something that was against the principles of them, and said:

- But why? What did you do during the summer? Had not thought of storing food for winter?

- To be honest, I had no time - answered the buzzer. - I spent the summer singing!

- Good...If you spent the summer singing, why not spend the winter dancing? -Said the ants, and returned to work laughing.

       

Moral of the story - Lazy people reap what they deserve.
